Rain, Prince Harry, Judi Dench, March Attitude

Friday, February 28, 2014

Who would think that rain could be so exciting? It is. Especially during a 4 year drought with nearby lakes dried up and trees/shrubs brown, dry, and thirsty. I love the sound of rain, one that I don't hear very often. And I keep pausing from my work to take a look and luxuriate in it. If it were warmer, I'd go out and stand in it and sing. (smiling)

Prince Harry (my lovable little cat who's pictured here on my SP page) is doing much better. Have done extensive research into both feline herpes virus and corneal ulcers. Turns out that the virus is highly contagious to other cats and I feel lucky that William has stayed healthy. I don't know if I could handle two sick cats at once. Keeping them apart is impossible as they are so emotionally-attached to each other. Corneal ulcers, even w/o the virus, is very common in Himmies so that's that. It has been a week on the new drops and eyeballs are looking a lot better. Still a way to go and will be vigilant about giving him L-lysine which is said to help stave off these flare-ups. Again, thanks to those of you who offered kind thoughts, prayers, and advice. I was really stressed over trips to vet, bills, his discomfort, the thought of saying goodbye right now if he didn't make it, etc.

Today I saw "Philomena." I don't have celebrity faves except for a few. Judi Dench is one of them and she knocks me out each and every time I see her. Honestly, I teared up a few times as it's an intense topic and based on a true story. Enjoyed it a lot and her performance was her usual stellar one.

My last blog mentioned that I'm going to kick butt in March. Well, I've started March early. I'm going to change up my exercise routines more and really take care of the problematic aspects of my food intake. I've never been overweight before in my life, so these past 6 years have been an eye-opener. Hate these extra lbs and am on a mission to get rid once and for all. Have about 10 to go.

The scale sabotages me. I never owned one prior to 6 years ago, as I never gained any weight despite having the appetite of a linebacker. When I step on it and see a lower number, something in my psyche says, "woohoo, now I can eat more." Don't ask me why that happens, but I've gotta spank my inner child who can sometimes be incorrigible. (smiling)

Gonna go look and listen to the rain again. Big hug to all.

I love, love, love the rain...if I'm inside and cuddled up with my two-legged man and my four-legged babies! I love to listen to the rain. I open my windows at night even if it is cold, just to hear the rain as I go to sleep. I love a good, hard rain, too. I don't want a tornado, but I enjoy the thunder and lightning. We definitely don't have a shortage out here in Oregon, although it rains far less than people think and our storms aren't very impressive.

Big hugs to PH! I am so glad he is feeling better :) A happy kitty is a happy home!

Dame Judi Dench. What can I say? I love her. I grew up watching her in "Time Goes By" and have loved her in every movie she is in. She is the ultimate actor.

I think Judi Dench is an amazing actor. She becomes every role she plays. I haven't seen the film, but I just finished reading Philomena. Darn I was hoping for a different ending!

I can hear the relief in your words when you talk about Harry. I hope his health continues to improve.

I'll try to remember this when I go to and fro in the rain. The other day, I went to a meeting at the city's Office of Emergency Management looking like I came there through a typhoon to get there and that was only a 15 city-block walk. Oh how I wish we could share some of our flux with SoCal.
So glad Harry and William are both getting through the health issues.
It's great to hear that you enjoyed Judi Dench's movie, I was wondering about it. I'm not one bit surprised that her acting was good. She is raw skill, she is.
Good luck with the 10 pounds. Better luck with the inner brat. I know you'll get both taken care of. emoticon

Glad your Harry is better. Love that you named your cats for the princes. I had two male cats (one has passed) who looked so much alike, the vet couldn't tell them apart. They were Romulus and Remus for the twins who built Rome.

When you see that you've lost weight on the scale, you might try a non-food reward. And also remember that the lower you go the easier it is to regain...

So unfair, but so it is.

I adore Judi Dench - I will have to see Philomena!

I'm so glad to hear that Prince Harry is doing better!

I would like to see Philomena also.

I am looking forward to some rain myself; not because we need it, but it would be nice to get a rain warm enough to start melting all this snow.

Glad the drops are helping Harry. emoticon

Being happy about the rain sounds sort of funny until one realizes that the state needs it badly. So, may you get more (but not too much). emoticon
