It's amazing how good a walk can feel!

Friday, February 28, 2014

Happy Friday, all! I just got back in from a walk a little while ago. It's cold, especially with the windchill, but the sun is shining and I thoroughly enjoyed my walk. I wanted to get out and get some movement in today. I'm trying to get some kind of activity every day. I walked for 21 minutes around the apartment complex and I felt awesome when I was finished.

I plan on taking another walk tomorrow. Dh is off work so he might even go with me. But whether he does or doesn't, I'm still walking. Unfortunately... I'm gonna be stuck in the house for a while after that. We're supposed to get a Winter Storm coming in the overnight hours of Saturday night through Monday afternoon. They're saying 6+ inches of snow and "significant ice". What that means for me is significant time stuck in the house. But I have Leslie and videos with Coach Nicole, so I have no excuse not to get in a little bit of exercise. It won't be as pleasant as a walk outside, but it's movement, and that's what counts!

Yesterday dh and I went to a new grocery store. Marc's, for anyone in the area. I think it's local to Ohio. I found something I have been looking for forever -- Instant Steel Cut oatmeal! I've read about it here and in magazines, and I couldn't find it anywhere. But I found it at Marc's! I was excited. I also got a cute new 24 oz double walled water tumbler for $1.99. One can never have too many water tumblers, I say. {And it helps that this one has pretty flowers on it!}

I did a bad yesterday, though. We went to Fazoli's and I had bowtie pasta with creamy basil sauce, with chicken, broccoli and bacon. And some buttery breadsticks. SO naughty. But man, was it ever good! I'd hate to know the calorie count, though.

Doing better so far today. I had a packet of the instant steel cut oatmeal with some Splenda and peanut butter mixed in for breakfast. It was yummy yummy yummy. I love steel cut oatmeal. There's been kind of a change in dinner plans. I was gonna make a ground chicken over brown rice dish I have a recipe for... but I noticed about 10 minutes ago that it has to go in the crockpot. So we're having beefy cheese tortellini and I'm gonna have a big salad with mine so I eat less of it.

I'm not 100% back on track, but I'm trying to make better choices. Started the day with a healthy breakfast, that's a nice change of pace. And I'm gonna have salad with dinner, so horray for getting in a few veggies. I have some fruit and cottage cheese for later. I'm sure I will end up eating something else not especially healthy tonight, but I'm just focusing on better choices for right now. I'm not trying to be perfect, just a little better.

My anxiety has been markedly better the past several days. I was more anxious last night than I have been recently, but it was still nothing compared to the way I had been feeling every night. I'm not sure if it's because I'm burning off some energy in exercise, like my therapist said, or if it might be the change in birth control pills, or if it's just a miracle, but I'll sure take it. It's nice to not sit over here feeling all wound up and crappy every night for no reason. If my anxiety is triggered, I still get anxious really fast, but I don't seem to be at a baseline of constantly anxious recently. Woo hoo!

Now it's time to get off my butt and go fill my water cup and get to work on my water for today. I hope everyone has had a great week and is ready to get the weekend rolling!

    Moving your body always helps your stress level, even it you don't notice it during the exercise, sometimes it is like a slow release of stress after the exercise.

    Awesome, getting out and going for a walk! I hope the storm just fizzles out before it gets to you!! Exercise really makes you feel better and sleep better. We went to the gym today, and I was happy. Like you, if I feel like being active and DH doesn't, I do it myself. You have a good plan. I've never heard of the Marc's grocery, but it sounds nice with a good selection. Have a great night!!
