Friday, frigid Friday

Friday, February 28, 2014

No snow today, but the temps is hovering at -12.. In Pinconning, about 15 miles from here, it is -19.. insane temps...

I know God led me to insulate my home so much a few years ago.. when we first bought this house, my hubby would sit in the ca=hair near the front door and the wind would whistle past his head!! You could swing a cat in teh big gap left between the brick-front and the window frame then..
When I had the new siding, windows, and roof, soffits, etc, put in, I told them they could not put too much fluff and/or tyvek in or on my home!! I have kept my gas/electric bill almost the same as it was 25 years ago..

Has anybody else found a significant rise in their heat/electric bills lately?

Not a rise in my electric or gas bills at all but I don't live where it get's really cold. We go as low as 25 degrees in the middle of the night but we don't use the heater at all in the winter. 2 of us have a hard time sleeping when it's too hot. Good that your bill is down!!

We haven't but we were like you and 7 years ago had tyvek put on and insulation and all new windows and got the best windows made...it has been wonderful...think EVERYONE should do that to save money....

I am on the budget plan for my heat and electric bills, so I pay the same each month. I will know if there is a difference though once I get to the time of year that it's adjusted. I have a feeling mine will be going up; I haven't turned the heat up any higher, but because of the extreme cold, the furnace kicks in more often.

We got down to -21 last night.

Oh yes. This is a cold winter in TN as well. Not like where you are but it has been as low as 0 degrees which is unusual for us. I received the highest bill in ten years this last month. Ready for spring. emoticon

How about over $500 a month. We have insulation, attic fans, and triple-pane windows.
