Thursday, just hobbling around.

There's this thing called next day soreness. I have it and I have it bad. I did a lot more heavy lifting up stairs than I was hoping to do and I'm paying for it in my calves. It's like having tied up knots in those muscles. Fortunately I did lift properly, so my back doesn't hurt, it's just the calves. I haven't slept well in a couple of days because they're so tied up they keep waking me up.

I was smart enough to keep on moving today so that they would start working their way back to normal. You can't just sit around and hope they stop hurting. Like running a marathon, you don't just lay down, you need to slowly walk it off so your muscles don't simply shut off. I managed over 5000 steps making sure that I was moving to get those legs working again.

Stairs hurt, especially when going down. Up is not as bad. I know the only way they'll get better is to slowly keep moving or they'll just stay tight. It's like the first time I did squats, I couldn't get up or sit down for a half a week afterward.

I'm also doing stretching exercises to help them out. I was able to move my legs farther by the evening than I was in the morning. I should be fine by the end of the weekend if this keeps up.

Breakfast was a little bigger because I was near the end of the bag, so I just dumped the rest into my bowl.


I did leftovers for lunch, adding some corn to my plate this time.


I forgot I was going to do falafels for dinner, no beans soaked again, so I asked, spaghetti or pizza to the family. I kinda wanted spaghetti, but I was the minority vote.


I knew I only had a few things for the day, so I knew I could have some cookies.


Now to get back to cleaning the house. I have friends coming over on Sunday, so I have to get things wiped down and swept up. It takes a little bit more after a big project like I finished on Wednesday. Fortunately I'm cleaner that I have been in the past and am getting better at keeping up with my housework, even when I'm just hobbling around.

Coming this weekend, my birthday! I'm looking forward to ice cream cake! (Yes, even in this cold weather.)

    Your right moving and stretching is what is needed, just don't overdo. Have a great birthday and enjoy every bite of the ice cream cake.

    Hope it doesn't take too many days for your calf muscles to heal.
They seem to be an easy one to hurt.

    hope your soreness goes away, it seems that moving really does help with it. A nice relaxing bath with Epson salts also helps my sore achy muscles. emoticon

    It's officially called DOMS - delayed onset muscle soreness. Baths in Epsom salts help me!

    Smart to keep moving. Calf stretches and massage (foam roller?) would help too. Your food looks good. Feel better soon.
