I'm alive!

Thursday, February 27, 2014

It's been nearly a year since my last post and activity here with Spark. A lot has changed in that year - most significantly.... I'm a MOM! My beautiful son was born on January 12th and I am more in love than I could ever have imagined being. I'm currently on maternity leave until March 31st. I had my 6 week post postpartum checkup yesterday and got the all clear to resume physical activity. THANK GOD. Because I also did the "let's try on all our pre-pregnancy clothes" thing yesterday and it did NOT go well. I was ONE FOR SIX on pants fitting. 1 for 6! UGH! I gained 27lbs during my pregnancy (baby boy was 8.2) and have lost all but 4 of them but for some reason I'm still enormous.

I know, I know. I made a person. My body is bound to take some time to get back to "normal" but darn - it's still tough to go from cute and pregnant to dumpy and frumpy. BUT - that's why I'm back here. Time to rekindle what little enthusiasm I had for fitness and (hopefully) surpass it!

I'm currently at 235 and I set my goal at 175. I gave myself a year to lose it all - hopefully soon I can set some smaller goals and kick myself into gear.

how've all of you been?

Wow girl! Tons of congrats! It's been such a long time since I've heard from you but it's awesome to see you on Spark again! A lot can happen in a year but a lot more can happen if you put your mind to it so good luck on your health and fitness goals!

Fellow new mom over here with a similar goal. I had my baby girl last April but didn't try to lose the weight until way later. I wish I had been like you and got on track once I got the all clear but oh well. I started in January and am working on losing about 50 lbs in the next year.
Just know if you're breastfeeding it can be really hard to lose weight because your body craves more calories to supplement the little life. My body fought me like crazy in the beginning. I would try to exercise and reduce the calories a little and the scale refused to budge. So long story short I decided to wait until I stopped.
Well glad to see you here on spark and good luck! Take it easy at first, you did just give birth less then 2 months ago!
