My mom did that with regular milk on the farm without the water. Great recipe!

Born and raised in the country but now live in the suburbs. Wish that I could move back to the country.

I hear buttermilk makes a tasty substitute for the water in a boxed cake mix.

I've always used vinegar, but lemon juice certainly works, too!

Oh how nice , a lot of recipes call for buttermilk , Im not a big fan of drinking it however. I think I read before that adding a teaspoon of white vinager also substituted buttermilk.

(P.S take a peek at your cherry jam blog)

Country folk here,, but we always just added vinegar to the milk to make it buttermilk in a pinch. I used heavy cream to do it sometimes too..

    Great great great! Thank you!!!

City folk here living on the edge of country folk. How about that! Live in a suburban housing area, but just 1/2 mile out it's farms -- dairy and otherwise.
