The day started out like most any other day except for the fact that I am in the middle of a head cold. Even so, I got up this morning, did my cardio workout and then left here to do a job for a friend. I had agreed to fabricate and install a rough timber mantle piece on one of their fireplaces. Mind you, this fireplace is out on the back porch and it was 36 degrees outside and I have a head cold! The job of course took longer than I had figured. The mantle piece was already fabricated, it just needed to be installed. Needless to say, It took me 3 1/2 hours to do something I had planned to take only an hour and a half at the most. I left her house and decided that the wife and I would drive by Wendy's and get a bowl of chili and split a baked potato. Here's the most interesting part. You know how you have to walk through the drive through line of traffic to get out of a Wendy's? As soon as we stepped off the sidewalk the lady in the SUV to our left decided to back up and rather rapidly I might add. She hit my wife and knocked her to the pavement. Later, at the emergency room after the xrays wer in, we discovered she had a broken bone in her wrist. Thank God it wasn't a leg or a hip. They splinted it and told us that we would have to come back tomorrow to see the orthopedic doctor. There is a possibility of surgery - we hope not.
I called my people at the church and got someone to take over choir rehearsal and orchestra rehearsal for me this evening. We came home and are planning to go to bed early tonight. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better or should I say, less interesting day.
