February 26, 2014 - 12 Week

As some of you who read my blog may know, I weigh myself twice a week instead of the once a week recommendation suggested by the website. I always weigh on Wednesday, since this was the day I started my quest for health 12 weeks ago, and then I weigh once during the weekend.

Well, last Saturday I weighed in at 269.6, a robust 4 pounds lighter than what I weighed on the Wednesday before. I knew that it was a fluke and weighed myself again a few minutes afterwards to see if the scale was off. It again flashed the 269.6 numbers, so I posted them. Well today, I got on the scale, completing my 12th week with and it registered at 272.6. Disappointed, I weighed again and again it flashed 272.6. So dejectedly I posted the higher number in my statistics page. But I know that Saturday's 269.6 was a fluke but still, it was nice to think that it could have been (and was for 4 days).

On the positive side, I lost a pound last week and I am continuing on to meet my goal of 240 by October 1st.

This last week, I finished the deck, albeit at the end I became extremely stressed and Rube Goldberg'd to make things fit. I have a few touch ups to do now and I need to take a better look at it once my blood pressure calms down.

Actually my blood pressure continues to improve. I measured in at 136/78 today. My blood sugars have been in the upper 70s except for last Thursday, the day after I took my lovely bride to Brazil Grill for her birthday. I exceeded my calorie limit that day, consuming nearly 2,400 kCals and failed to earn my 700 deficit kCals for the first time since January 15th. Eating all that meat must have spiked my blood sugars because when I took them the next morning they read 118 - still a respectable and healthy number.

Tonight is Wednesday - salad bar night. We will either go to Ruby Tuesday's in McMinnville or to Round Table Pizza here in Keizer. I wish there was another decent salad bar or a Sweet Tomato restaurant closer than one in Tigard. I would be eating there a lot.

Okay - its a new week. I may have a new grand-daughter this week. Our fingers are crossed! Ariana is due on February 28th! If not, my wife and I intend to go to the largest antique show in Oregon this weekend. It is being held at the Portland Expo Center. If that is the plan, then we will also go to the Home & Garden Show at the Convention Center. There's a lot of walking there.
