BLC #21--Week 1 Recap

Well, week 1 is over and to tell the truth I am very surprised! I joined the competition on Thursday, and lost 8 pounds!!! emoticon lol To be fair I always weigh-in on Mondays so I knew my starting weight. What surprised me was what I did to acheive it. I ate homecooked meals, plenty of veggies, and did two hours of housework every morning when I got home from work. Spring cleaning came early this year. emoticon You see my parents were coming in on Saturday for a brief visit and dropping off my sister after a one month vacation back home.

The day arrived. As soon as they started out in the morning I started cooking lunch. It is an unofficial tradition that any time I visit my parents or they visit me I get to cook. I happily do this, because the other options are we go out to eat or mom and dad cook. emoticon The later is not something you want if you value your health.

For three straight hours I was on my feet dancing around the kitchen roasting quail, tossing a strawberry spinach salad, baking a tri-colored cauliflower and broccoli mix, steaming green beans, stirring up a vanilla pudding, and mashing purple, gold, and red potatoes. emoticon In case you didn't notice I love to cook.

After they arrived and ate it was time four my last chance workout: walking around for four hours to two second hand shops, a candy store, and Wal-Mart as my mom spent over $150 on her latest assanine obsession...I mean tasteful collection: pez dispensers. emoticon It wasn't until my sister's hip bursitis started flaming, and my lower back almost reducing me to tears that the 5'0", 61 year old ball of tunnel vision finally called it a day. emoticon

So, 8 pounds...YAY!!! emoticon
