Catch up...

Sunday, February 23, 2014

It was a very busy week! All last weekend and the first part were all about wheeling and dealing for a new car (well, used but new to us). We finally found one in our price range in Camden, NJ. We also sold our Saab to a young couple.

Somewhere in there I decided I needed a schedule for my treadmill training. I have been doing a great job staying in my calorie range but needed to get my butt in gear for my upcoming HM in May. I put my name in the lottery for the Philadelphia Broad Street 10 miler and got in! It is one week before the HM. It is supposed to be a real flat race and a lot of fun and fit in nicely before the Delaware HM. So, I changed my work schedule. I now run while I watch Kelly and Michael at 9 and get in to work around 10:30. It is nice outside, so I am enjoying walks this weekend with Roxy and my husband, but I am staying on the treadmill with my trainings. Last time I ran outside I had a hard time mentally heading back in when the weather got bad, so I will keep my habit of running inside going. This is Roxy after her walks yesterday - we wore her out!

I perfected my Pumpkin Oatmeal this week. For those of you who are interested, here it is...

Pumpkin Oatmeal

1/3 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup skim milk
1 1/2 tablespoon Pumpkin Puree
2 sprinkles Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 sprinkles cinnamon
Brown Sugar (optional) - I use 1/4 teaspoon

Stir all ingredient in microwave-safe bowl
Cover and cook in microwave at 50% for 3 minutes

Let sit for one minute then stir and enjoy!

One more thing! Last night I had the best dinner ever at a restaurant on the canal...

Portobello melt
large portobello mushroom, marinated and baked with spinach, red peppers and jumbo lump crabmeat ... topped with melted mozzarella cheese and a balsamic drizzle garnish

It was delicious!!

Have a great day!

The recipes sound delicious. Way to go on staying in your calorie range and getting ready for your 10 miler. All I can say about the cars is, that was quick!

Princess likes to nap after her walk. My husband says she has to get her sniffing in. If he says sniffing, she is ready to go.

Thanks for the pumpkin oatmeal recipe. I really like oatmeal and know it is good for you but I tend to use lots of brown sugar or maple syrup. Pumpkin sound yummy and so much better for you!

Thanks, Ann

Oooooh! Your dinner is making me swoon! Yum! I'm also going to try your pumpkin oatmeal! HOnestly, I've never known people who looked all over the country for their new car! Hope this deal works out for you! I tried to get a pic of Sassy today crashed on the sofa after a long play out in the beautiful sun, but she kept waking! Obviously she sleeps with one ear open!

Portobello melt: nom, nom, nom. Love the pumpkin oatmeal, too--used to have that quite a bit last November and December, always reminds me of the holidays. Can I say I love Roxy being on the couch crashed out? A tired dog is a good dog, lol.

It all sounds wonderful! Not sure what I'd like more: a run outside or the portobello melt.

Yum, Yum and YUM! I am still running inside on my treadmill too, but I have not been staying in my calorie range due to too much traveling.

Good for you on sticking to your commitments!
