Day 7-8... Hmm I've seen that number before

Saturday, February 22, 2014

I weighed in on Friday at 191. Last Friday I weighed 193. So I lost 2 pounds in a week. Yay. However, in the past 2 weeks I've been up and down between 190, 191, 192, 193 and even a 194 when I weighed myself at night. 2 weeks ago on Sunday I saw 190, and I thought for sure I would be in the 180's shortly, but then came the 'fudge incident'. Anyway, yes I am happy that I lost 2 pounds, yes it is disappointing when you see a number you've seen before after going up and then down again, and yes I wish I was in the 180's already.... BUT:

I went home to my parents house, and in the basement I have 2 boxes of clothing that I have kept there for the past few years. They are my 'skinny' clothing, all size 14 and L-XL. 5 years ago when I lost 60 pounds and was a size 14, I bought a whole new wardrobe. Then I started gaining weight, I was briefly a size 16 but then settled back into an 18, sometimes a 20. For some reason I saved my 'skinny' clothes. Maybe a part of me was hoping that I would fit into them again someday. So there they sat gathering dust...

When I started this diet again back in November, a friend of mine was giving away clothing cuz she was cleaning out her closet. She gave me a skirt that was a size 16. I thought, ya I can squeeze myself into that. But I couldn't. It was too tight and wouldn't even close. Now, it fits comfortably and it is even getting roomy. So I thought, why not try on the size 14 skirts...

Well, they don't fit. Yet. There is one skirt that is a big 14 and it fits but it is tight. Now there's this red dress, size 14. It is like a salsa dress, all flairy on the bottom. It still has the tag on it. I bought it but never wore it, cuz it was already tight on me at that point. I tried it on when I was home. It is definitely tight but I was able to get it on. I always thought of it as the dress that got away. But now I am confident that it will fit again soon.

So even though it is annoying to gain 2 pounds and then lose it again and see the same number that you've seen before, seeing those size 14 skirts in the basement made me remember that I did it before, and I'm doing it again. Also, tonight I weighed myself and it said 190. It is slow going, but I know I will get there.

Red dress, I'm coming for you...

I heard that a red dress could be a good stand in for a "little black dress."

My middle daughter got a new shipment of clothes at the retail store where she works, and picked out for me a mother-of-the-bride dress. My new goal is to wear it.

Much success to you!

Congrats on your loss! I think we all keep some skinny clothes as it's a good goal to stay motivated! You're doing awesome!!

You are doing so great! I know you will be in the 180's soon and that red dress will be a great reward for your weight loss. I love rediscovering old clothes that I may have only got to wear for a short time. :) I am hoping to be in the 180's come this weigh in on Wednesday, but if not, I know it'll come in time. :)
