In two hours time over the past two days I have restored the wood finish (mostly) to all of our kitchen cabinets and china cabinet.

I used Old English scratch cover and first using a q-tip as a paint brush filled in all the little knick marks and worn areas, allowing them to set at least a half hour. Then I put the Old English on a soft cloth to rub over the entire surface and then buff with a dry cloth.

I was channeling my inner Karate Kid.....Wax on! Wax off! emoticon

I worked up a good sweat with all the climbing up and down off the step stool to reach the tops of the upper cabinets.

I have ordered new shiny brass colored door knobs and cabinet pulls and will post pictures once I am all done.

My 25 year old cabinets now have a shiny new facelift for a budget price of just under $32....and a lot of elbow grease.

After that I pulled on my boots and trudged through the knee high snow to reset a piece of mobile home skirting that a critter tried to knock loose in the middle of the night last night and put down some more mole and vole repellent to discourage it from doing that again tonight.

Then it was time for dinner. I had 600 calories left for the day and had not yet planned what to fix when Dear Husband announced he wanted Long John Silvers emoticon

I looked in the SparkPeople nutrition tracker and it looked like I would be ok with a fish sandwich and would add a can of sliced carrots as my side dish. When I got to LJS I saw that the only fish sandwich on the menu was called Ciabatta Jack Fish sandwich. Oh boy, I bet those calorie counts are old I thought.

When I got home and looked it up on Calorie King it was 570 calories for the sandwich. I ended up 87 over for the day.

I promise you I am certainly NOT stressing over that fact. Eating 87 excess calories one day out of the week when I have been at the low end of my range the rest of my week is really no big deal. Eating 87 over every single day, while unwise, would probably still not result in a gain.

Some days you just do the best you can. I didn't throw up my hands and order a full meal with fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw....I just made the best choice for me that I could. I know they also have grilled or steamed fish, that was not what I wanted.

I enjoyed every bite of the sandwich and carrots while dear husband ate his combo #6 of 3 chicken planks, fries and coleslaw. He usually gives me his hushpuppies. Today I tossed those in the trash.

Other than grocery shopping, I don't have any major projects planned for tomorrow. It will be my rest day, other than getting in at least 15 minutes of fitness. When that fitness minute ticker resets to zero on Sunday, it haunts me to do something emoticon

    Awesome on your project. I've got a closet to clean out and I will start next weekend. Last weekend was the X-mas decorations. Gotta pace myself.

  You deserve a day of rest after all of your hard work refinishing your cabinets. Congratulations on finishing that task. That is such great exercise. Enjoy your day of rest tomorrow. emoticon
