True story, part 2...
Yesterday, I relayed the tale of needing a ride and just at the right time a driver came along to offer me one. What I neglected to mention was the fact of never meeting the person before.
He simply said, "Nobody should be out in this kind of weather" (winter, windy, snow blowing, etc.)
I trustingly accepted the ride and my first words were "I don't know you"
He looked at me, laughed and said "I don't know you either"
We proceeded to introduce ourselves. We live in a small country town where most folks are familiar with the established dwellers of the community.
And then we had a lovely conversation and a couple of laughs on the 10 minute ride to my library job.

I had a tire blow out on a lonely road between my town and the next town over. A man stopped and it took a while for both of us to establish that we were trustworthy. He wanted to help and I finally let him.

Isn't it amazing how where things happen has a lot to do with how we react?
