Happy Thursday, Spark buddies!

I am in a GREAT mood today. I went to the gym last night with my work friend and I'm pretty sure I impressed her :) I blogged yesterday that we were going and I was going to help her with the other equipment because she generally just does cardio. I introduced her to the weight machines, the heavy rope, a medicine ball and some other fun fitness things. I busted butt. After 5 minutes on the treadmill, we went to the weights and spent time on arms, legs/butt, and abs, then we went to the elliptical where I did 15 minutes of intervals going from 1 to 8 intensity. She quit after about 7 minutes. After I went strong on that, I took her to the heavy rope and I did 2 sets of 30 seconds of consistent whips. She told me I was nuts when she tried and couldn't do it. Then we got the medicine balls and played catch, I did rotating torso stretches with the ball, a bunch of bicycle crunches, some regular crunches, reverse crunches and leg holds. After all that she was ready to leave so I told her I was going to the sauna. On my way to the locker room I decided to go run some more on the treadmill. BEAST! So yeah. I feel accomplished today. And a little sore. Mike didn't go with me last night so he made dinner and it was delicious! He baked some chicken for himself and then made us both (separate) stir fries with whole wheat noodles. Mine was so full of veggies! Yumm!

So all in all, I feel great and feel like I could go on forever. I did my weigh in last night before I left the gym and it was 198. This was a little disappointing since last Thursday I was at 192 BUT I have been working out pretty hard and lifting weights so I'm not too upset about it. My body is feeling tighter and leaner in certain areas and I'm pleased with my progress regardless of what the scale says.

I'm still having a hard time eating enough on the days I go to the gym. I burned almost 600 calories yesterday and ended up significantly under in calories for the day. I ate like a crazy person when I got home last night. I was starving! Any suggestions are helpful. I need to pick up some protein bars or some things to keep in my gym bag, desk drawer, and car when I need a quick and easy pick me up before and after my workouts. What is the best way to go for this?

Depending on the weather, I am either going to the gym tonight or going to the park with my fluffy dog and husband. We are expecting severe weather though so if it's that bad, I think I'll stay in and do some homework. Either way, I'm above my calories burned goal for the week and just a few minutes shy of my weekly fitness minutes and I'll get those in this week for sure :)

Here's to a great Thursday.. and tomorrow is FRIDAY YEAH!!! I'm trying so hard to stay positive and excited so I can keep moving foward and not get burned out.

    Sounds like you kicked some serious butt at the gym! Way to go!

As for the post-workout snacks? I eat a protein granola bar from Nature Valley. I buy them in bulk at costco. 10g protein. 190 calories.
