Making The Grade

Thursday, February 20, 2014

So without a doubt, the only time in my life where I was really successful was University, Many talk about grade inflation or how the material has been dumbed down over the years.

When you are a solid B- highschool student and you're trying to get your colleges top honors, you learn that university is not always such fun and games (especially when they've set up a program to limit the number of students who graduate with said honors).

What kept me going and on track were the grades themselves. Success was clear. Needed a certain final GPA or better and had to take x number of classes at a certain level. I had to be on top of changes to the program itself (as well as know which courses/professor to avoid).

So I'm setting up a 0.0-4.0 grading system. 4 areas at 1 point apiece. Combined, it will be a dashboard for the week. I will break the years out into "semesters" by next week.

Below are the courses:

**1) Weight:*****
The ultimate goal is 195 pounds.
Less than 205 = 0.1 points
Less than 204 = 0.2 points
195.2 to 196.8 is 0.9 points
195.0 or less is a full 1.0

**2) Body Fat*****
The ultimate goal is 15%
24%=0.1 points
23%=0.2 points
15%=1.0 point

**3) Eating*****
Will take 10-20 foods that will help me reach my goals and try to eat 1-10 of them each day. Will average out the highest 5 days and.
Average of 1 = 0.1 point
Average of 2 = 0.2 points
Average of 10 = 1.0 point

**4) Walking and Exercise*****
Goal is to walk 5 times a week and workout 5 times a week (At least 20 minutes each)
1 walk or exercise session each week = 0.1 points
2 walks, two sessions, or 1 of each = 0.2 points
5 or more of each = 1.0 point

I will tease out the details of the foods and exercises. My weigh-in blogs of the late 00's and early 10's will be replaced with weekly report card.

Class starts Saturday.

4.0 baby. WhooooHoooooo!!!

You are definitely a numbers guy.
I did pretty well in college but don't ask me how-
I was a high school job with 2 toddlers and a part time job in a flower shop.
