WIAW - What I Ate Wednesday

Several blogs I follow dedicate wednesdays to documenting what they eat and sharing with their viewers. I don't have a following, nor do I belong to this elite group of food bloggers, but I thought it'd be fun to share what I'm eating at this time. Food makes up half of our battle in losing weight.

For breakfast, I started with a green smoothing. I probably have a smoothie two to three times a week.



This particular smoothie includes a large handful of spinach, 3/4 banana, 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1/4 of cup of blackberries, and a cup of tropical green good belly probiotic juice. Calorie count - 236

My mid-morning snack was a treat! I had a truffle from a box of Chocolates my love got me for V-day. This particular chocolate was just a plain milk chocolate truffle. It was a little high on the calorie side - 100 (especially for such a small piece).



For lunch I enjoyed a Caesar salad (that I've been frequenting pretty often for my go-to salad), and some leftover pumpkin lasagne. I don't typically make pasta a whole lot but I had some leftover noodles from the last time I made this (October) and a can of pumpkin I wanted to use up in my pantry. This square isn't too bad though - 310 calories for the lasagne and the salad was 174; for total 484.




My afternoon snack included some "Omega" enhanced nuts and my favorite snack - dark chocolate. Calorie Count for both - 210.



My dinner was a bit of an experiment. I tried a lentil bean, artichoke recipe over spaghetti squash. I have to admit though that while I tried to like this dish, I couldn't do it. I ended up pushing all the artichokes to the side immediately (which I generally love) and stomached about 1/3 of what was left on my plate. Finally I decided enough was a enough. So ditched that plate and I started over with an easy microwave dinner - baked potato, broccoli, and cheese.



While I waited for my second meal to cook, I had some tea.



Since I didn't eat a true portion size of the first plate, I had to estimate. The total recipe was 330 calories. After dumping all the artichokes, I still ate less than a third, so I counted it as 110 calories. The potato plate was 416, making dinner my heaviest meal at 523.



Total calories for the day - 1556. Still under my budget but I was definitely a little unsatisfied in the evening. =(
