What motivates you? Tales From 100# Down

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Motivation is an essential part of this journey. Without it we often remain in the land of "status quo" . I like to think of motivation as a catalyst. Since my days of being 350+ I always "wanted" to be thinner but I was lacking the catalyst to get me going!

As I have shared with you recently I'm trying to get off my zig/zag plateau. I've strung TWO great days together and hope to make it three tomorrow. It's funny how small things motivate us. Here are some things that motivated me this week.

1) I have a doctors appt. in mid-March. I want to register a loss on the scale since my last visit in December.

2) Pictures - I was cleaning my desktop this week and found a stack of old pictures when I was heavier. It made me realize how far I HAVE come and makes me want to get more off.

3) Spring - NO - it's not spring yet . We still have feet of snow out there but March isn't too far away and it will begin to moderate some and I want to buy my new spring clothes in a size smaller than last spring!

4) Mindset - this is a strange one but it hit me today. "I" am the one that decides when I eat, when I exercise, how much effort I give. I can give more or give less. I'm going to choose MORE!

So - what's motivating you? Find something to be the catalyst to push you to ACTION and get going!

Great blog ! You have wonderful insight. My motivation... I want to breathe easier. Tired of being tired and body aching. March must be doctor month. I go in also and am hoping to get off diabetes meds but mostly, I want to see her face when she sees my weight loss since last seeing her ( now 59 #) I am sure she will be pleased since she has been gently nagging me forever. Have a blessed week. TC

Motivation: When I first met with my orthopedic surgeon to discuss bilateral knee replacement surgery he asked me an unexpected question. To my surprise I answered without hesitation. I want to be able to play soccer with my grandsons and I want to be able to kneel to pray.
I will be be 68 in March, with the surgery, the motivation, the dedication and SparkPeople I still do both and lost 106 pounds.

Having those goals is what will make you successful in your program. Bravo! I have a wedding to go to in April and it's also our 25th anniversary so I am finding all kinds of motivation in planning for that - along with the idea of some cute new clothes for spring! Thank you for the reminder about making some motivational goals!

I was just thinking about you last night! I can officially say "Tales from a 100# Down" now! Of course, I won't take your line. I was just super excited to think about it.

emoticon my biggest catalyst is my waning health, there is some improvement , but I need more! I really need to give that extra push and the biggest thing is consistency!
