Spring baby Yeah!

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

The temperature in Chi-town will reach the 40s today! yahflippinhoo! I have heard talk that there is grass that grows from the ground and sidewalks. I have not seen these things they speak of but that's the word on the street!

I know this weather is temporary but I choose to think spring. I'm fighting cabin fever, work stress and family health issues. How do you fight all of those things? With healthy foods, proper sleep, exercise and faith that one day spring will come again.

Kickboxing workouts are a great way to relieve stress. I like Coach Nicole's quick kickboxing workouts when I'm pressed for time. I also like venturing over to for the Exercise TV 10lb Slimdown Cardio Kickboxing workout. Nothing like picturing the thing that is stressing you and throwing a punch or kick at it!

Fun spring facts....

Spring is the season of flowers. The Japanese celebrate the arrival of spring by hosting mass viewings of Cherry Blossoms.

In the Persian calendar, the first day of spring (or New year Day) is called Nowruz.

Baby birds learn to sing. They are born with the ability to sing but must learn the songs of their species. This is thought to happen betwen 10 - 60 days of age and begin to sing them the next spring when they have matured to about 300 days old.

Let's wrap this up with a little delight from the Disney movie Bambi - "Let's sing a gay little Spring Song"

Now I know why it sounds like such racket in the morning when all of the birds start their singing - it's those young ones that are out of tune - LOL! Can't wait to open a window and hear them again. THINK SPRING emoticon

Oh my gosh, I didn't know that about birds, that is such a cool thing! My ex-husband is Persian and he celebrates Norooz (or however you want to spell it, LOL). Every year he plants some sprouts and grass for the new year. The Persians do major spring cleaning in advance including taking all of their rugs out and cleaning them and then everyone goes visiting for the new year. I love the first day of spring. Signs of hope and life.

May happy visions of spring fill your mind....soon it will be here.

I have faint memories of grass. I think it's green.

Your plan to combat stress and cabin fever is spot on. Might I suggest adding some prayer or meditation to the mix? It helps to breath in deeply and as you breathe out, to let go and release the toxic thoughts and troublesome worries.

I think that between winter in the Northern hemisphere and the hot summer in Australia we are all getting fed up with the weather. emoticon

My ticker is for spring..that is how much I am awaiting it this year! It has been a tough winter and I think we deserve a change. I am sorry to hear that you are going through some issues, but you are a trooper – you do not let them get you down. By any means, ‘kick’ those troubles away!

*I lived in Japan for three years and cherry blossom was always the most wonderful time – It is magical*

I'll take any glimpse of spring too, sick of flooding and miserable grey skies.

    Loved the clip xx
