Robbing Yourself of Today (2014- Blog #49)

"Don't let the past steal your present."
Cherralea Morgen

I have to admit, I am usually a glass half full kind of person. I do not really like being around the glass half empty people because I think it robs me of good moments. For some reason, that negative energy is just exhausting for me. I am not a PollyAnna, but I do choose to see things from a more positive note if I can.

When I saw this quote I thought about how much we really impact our individual journeys to healthy living when we beat up on ourselves for our choices from yesterday. I hear it all the time. "I messed up." "I was an idiot" "I was stupid." "I made a mistake." "ARGH" "UG" ... etc

Don't get me wrong. I do think we have to be honest with ourselves. We do have to acknowledge choices that do not advance us to our goals. But when we lament the past, we really do lose out in enjoying the NOW.

I also think that sometimes remaining in the regret-mode almost allows us to continue with the poor choices. That negative energy pulls us into an abyss of poor choices, swirls us into a tornado of black.

I prefer to remind myself that any other yesterday's decisions are the perfect foundation for me to learn something today.

May your Wednesday be a positively-charged day!

Mistakes can be learning opportunities...we can't change the past ,but we can learn from it. Living in the present is where it's at. Enjoy your day! emoticon

emoticon Not only agree, but SO agree.
I'm a firm believer in an ever expanding universe and opening ourselves to its emoticon
We 'miss' them by 'dwelling' in the past and future and creating unnecessary 'drama' for ourselves and others.
Here's to BEing; living mindfully, Gratefully!

Agreed. You cannot un-do mistakes. Learn from them and move on.

Yes, it seems that there are people who suck the life out of the room. Those people can be draining at times --- heck all the time.

The opposite end of the pendulum's swing drives me nuts also: Blissninnies! people who are so fearful that they sugar coat everything to the point that I wonder if they are on drugs!

Oh well life is interesting!

"Don't let the past steal your present." What great advice! Thank you for the reminder that each day provides us with a fresh start.

Neither are we to let the future rob our present. "So, don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." -Jesus

So, let's live our lives one day at a time. Have a great Wednesday!

I'm essentially optimistic myself, too. I have a work colleague who is so negative, I find it astonishing. But luckily we ony cross over for one day.

I think Twain said it quite well:
Stay away from those who would belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but he really great will make you feel that you too will become great.

I am more of a "get the right sized glass" kind of guy.
