Another scare

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

I think I have been really freaking myself out lately and causing myself more problems with my health. I think I had some sort of stomach virus last week and had stomach pains that radiated up into my chest area. I freaked out and thought "heart attack". Kept stressing out over this- more pains in the chest. Went to the doctor and EKG was normal, and he can't find anything but thinks it may have been stress related and possibly something to do with my RA. But I made a vow to continue to get healthier, and this just caused me to resolve harder. I am changing my eating habits and my stress habits as well. I have joined the Healthy Hearts group, got my water bottle at my side, and looking at the Mediterrian diet too. This scared me!

Sorry you had such a scare :(((
Sometimes you can get acid reflux that causes these symptoms. Stress and overeating can bring it on. Hope the worst of it is over for you..
One thing to add to your healthy living efforts should be meditation, deep breathing and yoga (it can be modified for any ability) Flexibility and stress easing is important for people with RA..
Take good care of yourself!

I know someone who was just having chest pain and I thought she should see a doctor in case it could be a heart attack, but it could have been a panic attack or brought on by stress.

I have another friend whose 1st RA symptom was chest pain. Turned out to be the joints where the ribs meet the sternum were inflamed.

I believe stress management is hugely important. My RA started when I was very stressed. I'm big on meditation, but any quiet relaxing time can help.

Feel better soon. emoticon

"Fight with your fork!" I love it! Thanks, Sugarsmom2!

Janny, thanks to your post about "team goals", I started working on getting more water in. I've avoided it during the day so I can stay at my desk more. But we have to remember, we can't take care of others unless we take care of ourselves first! Glad you are taking care of yourself!

I'm so sorry that you got so scared and it's more than likely that that was a good thing because you had your mind satisfied and yet it's like it made you feel to take care of yourself even more. I know that one time I ended up in the ER with extreme pain from my abdomen up into my chest. They called it UTI and I got med. for it and got all better and got even more regular with my cranberry jc. It sounds like you're doing what's best for you. emoticon emoticon

that is all it takes . we start and then it grows to really taking care of ourselfs . you can eat yourself well . so fight with your fork . eat yourself well . mediterrian diet is great one . chips and candy and crackers had to go with mine . more motion . less junk in my diet now . at one point we used 50lbs of flour and sugar a month each .
