I haven't been active on Spark People in over a year, only popping in to say "hello" once in a while. Last spring I lost 22 lbs. hiking the Appalachian Trail, and had a fairly active summer despite a leg injury. I enjoyed walking nearly every day and even rode a bike (pics in my gallery). But once winter set in, I got into a state of depression and also less activity. This caused me to gain back the weight I lost and then some.
I've been making changes slowly in the past three weeks or so, and it's starting to pay off. I lost 6 lb in the past 2-3 weeks. I'm eating more veggies again...a surefire strategy to get some nutrition AND eat less calories. I'm walking a few times a week, even if it's cold or the sidewalks and streets are covered in several inches of snow. That actually adds resistance to my workout, and a little added challenge. My hubby walks with me and he's supporting me in all my efforts.
Originally we were planning to head back to the Appalachian Trail this April to complete what we started. But several things happened that changed our plans. Due to the "Snowpocalypse" the past couple months, my hubby lost quite a few days at work. Since he's a temp, that means no pay. Also we prayed about the AT trip, and received some direction to focus on some other things right now. So the AT will have to wait...at least another year.
We do have some exciting things to look forward to, and it's been fun to do goal-setting together. The longer we've been married, the more we seem to work as a team to get things done. I'll share some of our new plans soon. I'm also hopeful that I'll be out of my "winter blues" very soon, especially since there are good things to look forward to. Prayers are always appreciated. :)
