tuesday-- snow aftermath

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

good morning everyone! if its Tuesday it must be snowy. holy crap--we had an insane winter "storm-let" blow through yesterday. most of the day was fine--quiet and relatively warm. I made it to the park and completed the second of my 3 time rotation of week four in the 10K interval series. made phone calls about housing for my mom--there are some possibilities--need to make some more calls today. Debbie stopped by and we had a very nice visit, then after she left i worked on the living room paint. the cutting in on the big wall is done, so I just have to get a roller and finish it--then some detail work and the job will be done. I am liking these colors--they are a big departure for me and stronger hues than I normally use, but it is completely changing the feel of the room, which is what I wanted.
along about three pm I called my brother and was talking to him and watching the first few flakes of snow swirling about. about 10 after 3 rob called to say he was leaving work early to get home ahead of the snow. by 20 past three I looked up from painting and saw a complete white out outside my window. I could hear sleet hitting the glass as well, and the wind was blowing really hard. tried to call rob to let him know, but his cell phone wasn't on. by about 3:45 he called me to say he was in a parking lot at a restaurant about 2/3 of the way home. he couldn't go any farther because he couldn't see. he drives a prius and its a wonderful car but not particularly snow-worthy. so he just holed up and waited for things to get better. he finally made it home about 4:30.
went down to put the kittens away that evening and they were nowhere to be found. they have a couple hidey holes under some outbuildings, and I suspect they had gone there earlier in the day and then just decided to stay put when the storm hit. rob saw some tracks up by the garage this morning, so I suspect they came up to the house in the night. it was worrying--the first time both of them have spent the night on their own outside--normally I give them a treat and crate them at night.
so the agenda for today is finish painting the living room and make phone calls.
have a terrific day!

I hope your kitties are okay! I saw a news article about how pets are getting frostbite in North Dakota from being left outside, poor things! Glad Rob got home ok. Great news that you're finding possible housing for your Mom!! Hope your day was a good one!!

I'm glad everyone survived that storm. We got about 5 inches of snow yesterday but it was a long event so, not as bad as you got. I know it was worse south of us though. I guess we better enjoy these warmish days as much as possible. Are you running today?

Please post pictures of the room you are painting when you're done. I'd love to see the color.
