My Achilles Craving

Monday, February 17, 2014

Ahhh, the sweet bliss of a craving fulfilled.
Ahhh, the sweet curse of a craving denied.
Or is it.
I find the thing I ended up really really craving - chocolate - is typically my demise.
Recently I read, that some people with food allergies, actually crave the very thing they are allergic to and that can wreck havoc.
I am not allergic to chocolate.
But, it is my bugaboo.

I think I can handle it, and let it sneak by - oh, just a cup of cocoa, just a little dark chocolate (but who can have one bite, and resist the open bar).

Every time I go off track, that is the main culprit.
So today - I only had one cocoa, with my decaf to make a mocha, and a couple of chocolate chips. I am sure I may have another cup of cocoa.
I have avoided buying the candy bars I so easily bought at the holidays for gifts. Those I snuck a nibble in here and there.

Right now I have to retreat back from the sneaking of a slice of toast, or english muffin, or the occasional piece of chocolate. So hard to do, but will do me so much better if I avoid it.
So at the grocery store, I bought blueberries, more fruit, yogurt, and for the occasional treat - dark chocolate covered fruit. Real occasional.
Is it an occasion already?

Dark chocolate covered fruit! That's a brilliant foodhack. It controls the portion better than that open candy bar (which I completely recognize.) It combines good with even better ...

Yep. Now I'm going to get some. Thank you, Clever Woman.

I just read that sometimes people who crave chocolate are missing magnesium. You can find that in legumes, seeds, and nuts. Maybe that'll help? I hope so! Have a good day!

Chocolate is my biggie as well as salty snacks. I eat no salt in my foods and sometimes I think the salt craving comes as a result.
Here is to resisting temptations or controlling portions!

I also read that about allergies - specifically, peanut butter allergies.

As for the chocolate, do whatever works for you. I can have one piece of chocolate with no problem - for me it's salty things. Terra Chips aren't even allowed in the house. Self-discipline is no fun at all. emoticon

Why is it that all the wonderful tasting things are what we should not have??? My motto, If it tastes good, spit it out! emoticon
Good luck on taking just a bite.
