Comfortable in My Skin (2014- Blog #47)

Monday, February 17, 2014

emoticon Did my first ride of the new year. The snow and ice has kept me off the roads since the first of the year, so OH OH OH, it felt fantastic to be out there today. I met with a friend for a nice latte and great conversation. Then, I took off for about 20 miles, a ride through a cool afternoon, strong winds and solid rain for about half the ride. Good thing for me that I brought my wet-weather biking clothes, so no big deal.

Here's what I was thinking along my route... Today I literally felt comfortable in my own skin. As I glided up and down the bike path, along the river, across the bridge, through the city, I felt comfortable. Not just because I was riding again, but because my body felt RIGHT.

In the past few months when my attention wandered, my body was not feeling so hot. I felt like I was stretching against my own skin, heavy and weighted down. It does not take much weight to make me feel this way.. I hit a certain weight and UG. But today.. and of late, getting a handle of the weight I need to lose has been feeling good.

Summing it up - a great day:
-- a great conversation at a snuggly warm coffee shop
-- a solid ride in the rain
-- an ahhhhhhhh moment with my own comfort

You gotta love it! Have a great Monday - President's Day. Enjoy your own comfort.

Kudos to your ability to tune out distractions and focus on yourself and tuning into your body! It can be such a challenge in this day and age with zillions of bits of minutiae tugging at us from all sides!

The day Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast, I went out for a run. The storm was just creeping in so it was just rain and a little bit of wind. I was drenched by the time I got home, but I just loved the run. It was so satisfying.
