In-laws...frustratio
ns...awkwardness...

Sunday, February 16, 2014

So I haven't really had anything to do with my in-laws in a very long time...it's been years. One of my sisters-in-law and I have worked things out and today we went to a birthday skating party for two of her daughters. The last time I "spoke to" my other SIL was when I had a three-hour texting conversation with her, where I basically told her the entire family is tired of her crap. Obviously the story is much more complicated than that, but I will just leave it at that.

So we get there, get in, and she and I are on opposite ends of our little area. For FORTY MINUTES she completely ignored me. I didn't want to talk to her but I wanted to be the bigger person...and I definitely didn't want to give her the satisfaction of saying (about me), "She didn't even say hello to me." At one point, our little area cleared out a bit and she was standing a few feet away, so I just said, "Hi, _____. How are you?" She plastered a smile and her face and said hello, how are you, how's work, etc, etc. All the stupid little pleasantries. Then after a couple of minutes, my MIL and FIL came in (45 mins late, of course). They literally got in between her and me, and then I talked to them just a little. I didn't talk to her the rest of the time. Her stupid husband, my fat, lazy, mean, abusive BIL didn't say a word to anyone. He left the party to go to KFC and get food for himself. He didn't say hello to anyone or goodbye to anyone. My husband got off work earlier than expected and he showed up and rescued me. I was so glad when he showed up. I could hardly believe it when I saw him walk through the door! He walked over to his sister, the same one who said, "there is a wall between him and me, and I wish I could do something, I wish we could be closer..." yet she does NOTHING to reach out to him, talk to him, even exchange pleasantries.

Whatever.

Moving on.

So that was the LONGEST THREE HOURS OF MY LIFE. But I'm glad I was the bigger person. AND YOU BETTER MARK MY WORDS THAT THE NEXT TIME I SEE THAT ASSWAD I AM GOING TO BE NOTICEABLY THINNER AND HEALTHIER!!!!!!!!!!!!! TALK ABOUT MOTIVATION, BABY!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry you had to go through that but you're right, you were the bigger person and you should be proud you did how you did!
