Plan Worked

Sunday, February 16, 2014

The newsletter is done. A friend is proofing it for me. I did exercise periodically. My RA did not flare.

I got added rest. I still have a headache. Husband had health issues during the night so my sleep was broken. I'm not complaining. I am grateful that my friend shoveled the walk and did so much for us.

I'm somewhat nervous about beginning the re-eval and preparation for radiation. It is so new to me. I'm certain my doctors and staff will help me. I need to do some yoga or tai chi to relax.

Today I gave a ride to an older woman (80-ish) who I hadn't seen in a long time. She told me she finished radiation 2 months ago for breast cancer. She said it wasn't bad at all and she's doing fine.

Hope all goes well for you too. Hope the extra rest helps and the headache goes away.
God bless.

When I had my radiation planning, it was a longer day than I had expected it to be. The hardest part for me was having to lay on my back with my arms raised up for so long; if that is something that would make your arms hurt, I would recommend taking a pain reliever first to try to prevent that.

But once the initial planning is done, the rest of it should go quickly. When I had radiation to the chest wall, the actual radiation took less than 2 minutes each day. Once a week, I would have to stay on the table just a few minutes longer for x-rays; those were done just to make sure the machine was still lined up correctly. I also had to see the radiation oncologist once per week too while getting my radiation. And any time I needed to talk to a nurse, they were always available.

If you have any questions I can help you with, I will be glad to answer them the best that I can.

Glad that things worked out so you got a little rest! Don't be afraid to ask questions when you go for your treatment. The idea is the more educated you can become about the process, the more you're able to cooperate and participate and the better the outcome. So, don't be afraid of asking questions!

HUGS and prayers.
