Today I burned: 570 calories

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :) In Finland, Valentine's Day is not just about lovers or couples but also about friendship. Friends usually do something fun together and get each other presents. So, Friends, I want to wish you all a wonderful Valentine's Day and to thank you for all the kind words and endless encouragement you have shown me. I really appreciate it!

On another note, I didn't stay within my calories today. It's okay but I feel a little sad that I broke my streak :( We went out for dinner and even though I had a light lunch and a healthy dinner, I went over my calories. I thought: It's Valentine's Day, it's special and I want to enjoy this meal even if it puts me over my calorie limit for the day. I made a decision and I don't regret it. I'm going to go over my calories sometimes and it's okay as long as I eat healthy most of the time!

I'm really proud of myself for tracking my meals, taking the stairs and walking everywhere today! I walked for two hours and burned almost 600 calories. My glutes feel sore because I've been taking the stairs now: it's a great workout! :) I don't know why I ever used to take the elevator. We only live on the fourth floor! I have legs that work and that can carry me up the stairs, and it would be crazy not to use them.

    Hi Annie. The way I think about going over a calorie limit is like getting an "A" in a class at school -- we can get an "A" without being perfect. Although I haven't made it a habit yet, I aim to stay within my calorie range five of seven days. Once that is a habit, then I'll work on staying within range six of seven days, never setting the goal at staying in range every day. Have to allow a little flexibility, don't we? You have done so well, don't lose your momentum. Take a breath then start new streaks. emoticon I know you can! -- Lou

    That is very nice that Finland celebrates Valentine's Day with friends too, lovely. I remember before I got married my friends and I would celebrate together, some of the best times of my life. Of course I love the time with my hubby too.
Glad you tracked, and yes we all go over our calories from time to time.

    I love that Finland recognizes friendships as equally as important as loving relationships for V-day! That's awesome. Friends are so important and they should not be taken for granted. Go Finland!

And it's completely ok to go over on your calories. It's Valentine's day and it is completely appropriate to indulge every once in a while. You made that choice, with no regrets, and that's healthy!

Congrats on all those streaks though! Keep up the great work :)

    Happy Valentine's Day! I love that Finland includes friendships in Valentine's day--here, I have a number of single friends who feel lonely and left out on Valentine's Day, which makes me sad. I am very happily married, don't get me wrong, but there is more to life than that one type of relationship!

You are so right about stairs. I've started (though not this week--I over did it fencing on Saturday and then fenced again on Wed. so my knees are pretty cranky) walking up and down the stairs of apartment just for exercise (ie, not going anywhere, but just for the purpose of intentionally strengthening my legs, especially my knees. I work at home, so otherwise I don't get a lot of opportunities to walk stairs). It's really good for you.

    The quality of your food is extremely important. And yes, you will go over calories here and there. As long as it's not because you eat junk food you'll be okay.
It's important to live your life too.
