My husband and I have been on the road since Feb 2 and it's been a great trip. Before we left, we walked in some pretty cold weather and I said to him, " We're crazy!' and he said, "Nope, devoted." And it came to me right then to adopt 'devoted' as my key word. Devoted to my program. Devoted to my life choices. Devoted to me.
Today at breakfast 'homemade biscuit with honey' was included and for some reason, a craving urge popped up. I said out loud, 'Time for my key word" and he said 'No??" and I said, "Not that, devoted." I find using 'No" just creates a mean inner judge for me and in the past, I have been defiant against that judge, even if it works against me. "Devoted" reminds me of staying connected with myself and my plans and goals. In the end, I had them substitute tomato slices for the biscuit and they were fresh and tasty.
On this trip, I have had some carbs I wouldn't have had at home - some regional dishes or limited menu, but I've always made the choice consciously, not through a pop-up craving and usually balance it the next day. I'm on vacation, but not from my goals and what works best for me.
