Day 5 of Half-Marathon Training

Last night I needed to run 3 miles. I got on the treadmill and about 2 minutes into the run, I just wasn't feeling it. My stomach was bothering me and my legs felt heavy and weak. What the hell? About 5 more minutes into the run, thinking that I was going to be lucky if I could make it to a mile, I looked down and realized the treadmill was on an incline. Well, that explained things! Once I was at 0 incline, the run went much better after that! I was able to complete 3 miles! I realized, though, that I need to work on some hill training!

A friend of mine who runs told me when I first started running that no matter how long you've been a runner, the first mile is always the toughest. It's so true. If I'm having a bad run, I tell myself to at least get through the first mile and the majority of the time, my run improves after the first mile. I find my groove and I'm able to complete whatever mileage I want to do that day.

Yesterday was a good, healthy eating day. After completing my run last night, dinner consisted of two small baked sweet potatoes with a bit of Earth Balance butter, green beans, and jasmine rice. Then my husband gave me my Valentine's Day gift a day early because he thought I needed it. Teavana tea! Awesome sauce! And not only did he get me tea, but also a teapot and a travel tea mug! I love it, and I love my husband!
