Cadence Workout and Chocolate Cake

Yesterday was a good day. I was very busy, but productive, and I was able to fit in a 45 minute cadence workout on the bike trainer that goes like this:

Cadence Intervals: After a 10 minute warm up, do 1 minute at 100 rpms and 1 minute at 90; 2 minutes at 100 and 2 minutes at 90; 3 minutes at 100 and 3 minutes at 90; 4 minutes at 100 and 4 minutes at 90; and 5 minutes at 100 and 5 minutes at 90. Cool down for 5 minutes (45 minutes).

The workout went well, I felt great, and I rode along with the pros at the 2013 E3 Harelbeke road race--and of course, I always win!

Then I had a wonderful dinner and went off to a meeting with some friends from church, after which our host served the most wonderful chocolate cake, with homemade fudge topping, that I've had in a long time. I didn't eat more than one piece, but boy did I enjoy the heck out of that piece. And the fudge...oh, to die for!

I love the joy and freedom of the SP philosophy--in moderation, there is nothing I cannot enjoy. And knowing that I do not eat chocolate cake and fudge every single day, I was able to enjoy it all the more. And what's more, this slight indulgence did not rob me of the joy I had on my bike earlier in the day.

    Nice! Makes me want to go to a spinning class. Good balanced thinking about the cake.
