Thank you to those who have been checking in on me and my apologies for not responding sooner! Layla is now 6 weeks and 2 days old, just over 41 weeks gestationally. She spent the first three weeks of her life in the special care nursery and we were so happy when we were finally able to bring her home. She's keeping me so busy with feedings, pumping, and in general trying to figure her out (what those cries mean!) that there isn't much time for sleep and Mommy is TIRED! I know it'll get better soon, although I still haven't figured out whether she'll follow a developmental schedule more like her actual age or her adjusted age (based on due date). So far there is not much communication going on other than crying, but she has done some exciting things physically - she can roll from tummy to back already, and when held up she has started to support some of her weight in a standing position. My little baby athlete!

So cute! Enjoy your little girl! Ah tiredness - the joys of new mommy-hood, but just when you think that you cannot take much more, it works itself out. Rest up and take care!

Oh, my goodness- what a beautiful doll baby.
Take lots of pics and keep a journal or at least some notes (did you get a baby book?) so you will be able to remember all the special moments when life starts moving along faster.
My grand baby Pearl (born 12-11) has had SRV -a respiratory virus + double ear infection with a horrible croupy cough and was on prednisone and anti-biotics and nebulizer treatments - mommy had to take her to the doc every morning at 9 am- even weekends- all to keep her out of the hospital- successfully- yahoo- but it has delayed her growth a bit (hard to nurse when you can't breathe). She is fine now but it was a rough few weeks for Pearl and her family. She probably caught it from Lucy and William (4 + 3)- it's common but not so serious in young kids- just seems like a bad cold that lingers for weeks.
So keep Layla away from other kids for a while if you can!

Awww what a sweetheart! Those early weeks are such a blur, and it was always hard for me to see the forest through the trees. Sounds like you are doing great though! I'm glad you have good support all around you as well. Don't forget to take care of yourself mama - Liz
