Small glimpes of Heaven

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

You know most of us have had pets over the years. We had loads but the most memorable were the dogs. Everyone if they are lucky will have at least one dog that was the family's favorite a defender, protector, friend and confidant. My grand dad use to plant winter wheat every year. I loved this crop as it was a beautiful green all summer and then in fall tall sheaves of gold waved like sea wave in a breeze. Our dog Star was a hunter and sometimes we got the pleasure to watch him chasing some animal through the wheat. Every few minutes he would leap through the air above the wheat and then disappear again
I think these small things added over the span of ones life are what keeps us sane. A cardinal in a evergreen tree in a snow storm, one of a dozen storms over our last winter. Two Deer watching us as we watched them. Kisses from a child. Little hugs and smiles. I know I am depressed a lot and sad but even I have these little things, small gifts to help out in times of better defeat

Writing down ones memories helps the sadness go away sometimes.
I had 8 dogs and 3 cats and Hailey is with us now. Female, Gs, 5 and half in June.
She always wants attention and barks at everything. Like having a two year old.
Nothing like my others.LOL

I remember our hound dog doing that through the corn in the summer! I just love your reference to hopeful things. I have them too and through the times of depression, I have clung to just that tiny glimmer and sighed. After many years of chronic depression, without professional help, I finally know what it feels like to feel depression coming and not go completely under! I am so glad I half on to those tiny bits of light, rainbows, bird visits, quotes from a friend or a sign, Bible verses, etc.
