Today is day 4 of my current streak!



I wanted to take a moment to wish myself a very happy and healthy Valentines day! And even though Valentines day is only one day of the year, I am going to love myself enough to be my own Valentine all year long.



For me, the hardest part of this journey is eating right. I really struggle with that. I love exercising...but sometimes I undo all the benefits of my workouts by eating the wrong food, and too much of it. This year, I promise to love myself enough to make smarter, better choices when it comes to eating. I know I can do it. What works for me is to challenge myself. (I love a good challenge!) So my challenge to myself is to try to make each meal that I eat as healthy as possible. Before I put anything on my plate, I will ask myself "Is this healthy?"



Its true what they say.....good health really is its own reward. This journey is not just about losing weight...its about gaining health! When I am eating real, healthy foods (and not processed junk) I feel so much better in every area of my life. I have more energy, and I perform better for my workouts. I sleep better. I am just all around happier and nicer to be around when I am taking care of my health.



So this year, I will be my own Valentine all year long and I will love myself enough to eat right and exercise. That is the best gift I could possibly give to myself!



Happy Valentines day to me...and to you! Don't forget to be your own Valentine too. You are worth it!

    emoticon I loved your blog! I did not really crave chocolates so much this year, but I still crave licorice! That is what I ate lol. I also went out to eat with my husband at Red Lobster. I decided to get the grilled garlic shrimp emoticon ! That wasn't so bad. I even had broccoli with it! I did end up having a couple chocolate covered strawberries that my Husband's Father gives us every year for Valentine's. I guess all and all I didn't do too bad! Today I am going to the gym with my Son! We are going to have a workout day! Have a blessed day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Happy Valentine's Day!!! What might help is pick one or 2 food habits that you would like to make healthier and do it one step at a time then all at once. That's what I found was derailing me...feeling overwhelmed which is easy when I'm a single Mom, who is now losing her job. Sleep has become my biggest habit to work on because I was getting 7 pretty consistently, but now I'm having bouts of insomnia. Joined the 4 weeks to better sleep and learned a few tips and working on getting consistent sleep.

Injuries were dampening my enthusiasm to exercise so I'm starting small....10 min of exercise a day and if I do more, that's great, but the goal is consistency and to listen to my body so I don't keep getting inured. I need to work on doing more stretching so my rest day is like 10 minutes of stretching/light activity.

Water is something I like to drink now, but tummy issues kill my water kicks so I've had to reset myself until I get my tummy issues under control. Starting at one cup of water a day and working my way back up to 8. I took one of my GERD tablets and having oatmeal for breakfast since that usually helps my tummy issues.

I've noticed that the people who are most successful at making changes use this site, so I set a goal of getting at least 25 Spark points a day which lets me spin the bonus wheel.

From reading articles, eating slower would help with my tummy issues so I timed myself and found out that on average, I finish my meals within 10 minutes. I'm trying to get that to 15. Once I've mastered 15 minute meals, I'm going to go for 20 and then 25, until I'm consistently taking 30 minutes to eat so this goal kind of works in tandem with my water goal.

While I've only really done well in one area: the Spark Points, this sets me up with motivation for all the other areas. Exercise is the second one I'm really honing in on along with the 15 minute meals so that I can have more success with my water one. Any ways, I hope this is helpful.
