I have been sick with a cold/flu bug since just after Christmas. I saw my doctor last week and he gave me antibiotics to help with the very bad sinus infection and headaches I have been having. They are helping a little, but not a lot. I have to take the antibiotics for 4 weeks, but I have to see him next week to see how things are going. I am still having a lot of problems getting anything done, as my body is just not letting me do too much.
On top of that, I was supposed to go and visit my sister a couple of weeks ago. My BIL is in the hospital, and they do not think he will be coming home. My DS is devastated, and is having a hard time being alone. My BIL is 85, and he has dementia, and the doctors told my sister that he also has congenital heart failure. He sleeps a lot and there are times when he doesn't talk or even pay attention when his family visits. My niece told me that he has fluid retention in his body and it is now up to his hips. They have given him dieuretics, but they're not working all that well. The doctors have now put him on morphine pills. He is very restless and is having trouble breathing. I know he is afraid to die, as he told my niece that. My niece was telling me that eventually he will just stop breating and slowly pass away. My sister hates to see her DH like that. It seems they are just waiting for him to die. It's a sad situation. I am praying for him and for his family.
I have been trying to get all the new and donated books in the church library on the shelves. Yesterday I spent 2 hours in the church with a friend entering some of the books into the computer system. We accomplished quite a bit, although we froze while doing it. I found out today that the temperature had been shut off in the church, and it was only 57 degrees when we were there. We had to stop for coffee on the way home to warm up. I went back to the church today to do some more work. Thankfully the heat was turned up and it wasn't quite so cold. I managed to spend 4 hours there and I accomplished quite a bit. However, I did have a little scare. Our church building is only used for church services and for meetings, etc., mostly during the evenings, so often there is no one there. The offices have moved to another building. This morning I was in the church by myself, and I guess someone came in to get something and didn't realize I was there. Whoever it was locked the door when they went out and set the alarm. I went to the washroom, and when I came out I set off the alarm. Someone from the office came over to shut the alarm off. They had to contact the police to let them know nothing was wrong. He showed me what to do if that ever happens again. I have a fob to get into the building rather than a key and it automatically unlocks and locks the door when you scan it. Nothing like a little excitement to make sure you're awake in the morning.
I was thinking of going back to the church again tomorrow, but I think I'll stay home and get something done here. I have to go to the church for child care on Thursday morning and again on Friday evening, so I think that's enough for this week. I will try to go back next week to see how much more I can get done.
