Trees and a snowdrop

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

What did you have for lunch? This is my current favourite salad of the moment.

Spinach, rocket and my favourite - watercress, all served with a lovely juicy orange.

Then it was time to put my boots on and and head for school.

It was a lovely day for a walk. In view of the recent rains I had expected the walk to collect grandson to be cancelled - and to go by car instead. However, the sun was shining and I was able to walk the route with no problem.

The trees are standing in a lot of water. Some of them, like the silver birch, have very shallow roots, so when the strong wind blows more and more of them are being uprooted.

Grandson met we walked home the long way. It's just over a mile and it uses up some of his excess energy. His treat? A hot chocolate and a 'go' of my camera. He chose to take this photograph of a lonely little snowdrop.

Onwards and Upwards, Sparkeroonies. More rain due tomorrow - I have a walk to physio first thing. Will it be in the dry? We'll see........

You have no idea how much I needed to see that green grass today..the snowdrop is just a bonus...so thank your dear grandson for me. Expected warm temperatures but instead got 6 inches of new snow in 3 1/2 hours and that was after the power was out all over town because a transformer exploded and caught the pole and some trees on fire at 5:45 this morning. Power was restored at 7:15 but lots of people late for work because their alarm clocks didn't go off. Me, I was awake on my laptop when it all went dark but the laptop!!

We saw a news story last night about all the rain and flooding in England. I don't remember the name of the town but it was quite a mess. I was wondering how close that town is to where you are. I hope you continue to stay dry.

My favourite salad is watercress too. I also like flat leafed parsley dressed in lemon juice. Saw some daffodils in bud yesterday but I haven't seen any snowdrops yet, although my friend has. Wish it would stop raining. Your grandson takes a mean photo!
