Kids DO listen !!!

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

My (16yr) son finally got a job . He works at McDonalds and puts in some long hours. He explained they could have a free sandwhich if they worked at least a 5 hour shift. I said that was good, but hated to see him eating McDonalds 4 days a week because that wouldn't be good.

I realize taking meals with him aren't really an option at this point and just figured we'd make sure we do NO fast food at home now because he will now have his share. (we did it maybe once a month before)

My son was talking to me last night and mentioned that when we works a 5 hour shift he was going to eat the grilled chicken since it's probably the healthiest they had. He explained how there is no grease released from it when he cooks them (he works grill) and it should be the best for him. I was SHOCKED !! He has actually been paying attention to what I've been saying (and seeing all that grease in those foods help too).

I was very proud though that he has made a good decision on his own without me saying anything to him. He will learn to make better choices which will help him as an adult.

Good for your son (and you)! It's amazing how they actually do absorb what you say (despite the fact it appears they don't).

Congrats on his job!!!
