RIP Shirley Temple

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

So sad to hear she has passed. I loved watching her movies as a little girl. She was an idol. DH and I recently bought some of her movies and have been watching them with our granddaughter who also loves them. She just makes you smile! Our granddaughter jumps up and starts trying to dance like her. So did any of you watch her movies?

DH and I also watched the movie Saving Mr. Banks with Tom Hanks. I really liked it. Very interesting story about making Mary Poppins the movie. Tom Hanks plays Walt Disney. Fun.

Today we are getting FIL out a bit as we need to take him to get his passport photo taken. He lost his passport. This will be a big outing for him and I know he will complain a bit. He wanted us to find someone to go to him to take the photo and help him apply for a new passport.....he has no desire to get out and about. I am afraid that he has given up. So glad the place where we have is nice and he likes it. They really do take loving care of him.

Hope you all have a great day.
Sallie

yes I like & still watch Shirley Temple my Mom does also. The one thing you can be happy about your father in law's special care. There are so many places that do not give the best of care & have been reported, but are still the same . I would NEVER have my Mom if she ever had to go to a place be in one of those places that give inadequate care. That is a big comfort to you and your husband knowing he is being taken real good care of. Do they have a lot of nursing homes in Mexico & do they get good care?

I grew up watching Shirley's movies and as an adult still watched them any time I could. Ii'm hoping AMC will be doing a movie tribute to her.

I am afraid I never got to see any although I have heard the Lollipop song. A well known icon in the entertainment world..
I hope your FIL can enjoy himself in spite of himself in his outing..

A great loss indeed. One of my mothers prized possessions was a Shirley Temple creamer.

I loved watching all of her movies and she moved
on to become a very compassionate spokeswoman.
The world needs more like her.
FIL may enjoy himself once he gets out and about.

We grew up watching Shirley Temple movies. My mom was a big fan and collected Shirley Temple dolls. My mom passed on the same date February 10th last year. My sister and I have her dolls now that we treasure and all her movies too.

I got the alert on my phone this morning. It made me so sad. I know I've seen all her movies when she was a child and paid attention to her life. "Oh My Goodness!"

My oldest daughter, Sarah, is a singer and used to do Shirley Temple songs and even emulated her looks as a little girl. RIP.

I remember watching them with my grandma. I loved all the tap dancing and singing! I watched some of the old reruns on tv with my daughter when she was little. I don't think my granddaughters have ever heard of her! I may have to change that!

Enjoy!
