An Ordinary Monday
Monday, February 10, 2014
Okay so this is one of those times where my goal of writing a daily blog entry is a drawback. At the moment, I feel I have nothing to write.
It was an ordinary Monday. Nothing unusual happened, good or bad. The early part of the day was sunny, so I opened the blinds (and even a couple of windows, just a crack) and I had quite a bit of nervous energy so I decided to clean.
You know you have the cleaning bug when your tools of choice are discarded toothbrushes (no longer in use for cleaning teeth!), Q-tips, and bamboo skewers.
Yes, that's right. The secret of my cleaning success (when I actually feel like giving things a thorough cleaning) is bamboo skewers. They are flexible, with tiny sharp tips that can be moistened, or wrapped in a thin cleaning cloth, and get right into tight little corners or down into the narrowest of grooves.
So it was a bamboo skewer kind of day. Mostly I find them useful in the Spring when I do the windows, but indoors they are especially good for where the baseboard meets the floor. Or really where any two surfaces meet somewhat perpendicularly. (And that's not to even mention getting at the grunge that gathers at the base of the toilet...)
I also made good use of magic erasers today, scrubbing vertical surfaces like walls and cabinets. You know, if I could have seen into the future 15 years ago, I would never have chosen white cabinets for a bathroom that was mainly to be used by two males. Live and learn!
Eventually my energy gave out, just in time for a late lunch. The boys' bathroom looks a lot better than it did when I woke up this morning. So I guess I can take credit for a job well done today, even if it was one that waited a long time before it got done.
Unfortunately it does not take a lot of steps to intensively clean a small area like a bathroom, so I it's after 10PM and I still have a few more steps to go to meet my minimum.
Off to walk some laps of the living room now.
