February is a tough month. Yes, they tucked Valentine's Day
in there to break things up but in general in this part of the country it's gray, cold and dark. Oh sometimes you see the beauty as I did Saturday at my sister's. She had the fireplace on and I looked out the french doors watching big flakes of snow fall on her brick patio and skeletal trees. The whole world out those doors covered in white and me, cozy and warm sitting with a blanket wrapped round me. That was a nice moment...but then, an hour later we were slipping/slidding through traffic to reach a shopping destination!
This morning it was warm enough here (16 degrees) that Jersey and I completed our 3.5 mile walk around the lake. The ice on the lake was thick, gray and covered with patches of old snow. The geese were packed in tight in a lone stretch of water that wasn't frozen. The sidewalks were pretty clear (yes!). The air was foggy which gave our walk a lot of atmosphere. By the time we were walking to our own door an hour later I noticed that the hair that had escaped my cap had frosted where my breath hit it, and Jersey's ear hairs were traced in hoarfrost. Both of us came in refreshed and definitely appreciating the cold walk for the day...but we also were VERY glad to be home and ready for breakfast in a warm house.
Spent the weekend at my sister's and finally set up my iphone with sparkpeople app. Works pretty well. My sister and I ate pretty sensibly but still, went over more than we hoped. Today is a new day, in a new week.
Let's all have the best week ever!
