Another Weekend Gone

It wasnt the most exciting weekend, really...

On Thursday night I went to dance class and had a really good time. I was starting to feel a little sniffly during the day, and I dont know. When I got home, I laid down to read for a little while, and when I got up to let my dog out, I felt really dizzy - like the room was spinning, and then my vision blurred. Not good. I also felt a lot of sinus pressure :( When I woke up Friday morning I felt the same way but worse. And the room spinning kept happening everytime I tried to sit up or stand up :( I opted to stay home from work because I am pretty sure I couldnt drive that way anyway. I mostly just rested on my couch all day and did absolutely nothing productive. I had some Alka Seltzer Cold medicine that I took but I dont think it did anything other than raise my blood pressure. Around 7pm I made a quick trip to walmart and picked up a cheap humidifier for my bedroom, hoping that some moisture in the air would help with the sinus pressure. My bedroom is super dry. I think it helped a little bit.

On Saturday when I woke up, I wasnt getting dizzy as often, which is good, but I opted not to drive to Denver for the sewing expo because I didnt really want to change an hour and a half drive each way with the possibility of dizziness. I was bummed that I missed the sewing expo, but it was a good idea to stay home because although I ran a few errands during the day, my head still felt like it was in a bubble. *sigh* I did pick up a few things I needed, though, including new running sneakers! I got the Brooks Ghost 6. I had been running in the Brooks Glycerin 11, and really the only reason I changed was because the Ghosts were cheaper - but I had looked online and they were both neutral running shoes, so I figured I would be ok... I also finally ordered a shirt to wear for the Princess Half Marathon, and I picked up tulle at the fabric store to finally start making my tutu! Yes, I am going to run in a tutu this year! Exciting stuff.

On Sunday I felt somewhat better. My head still felt like it was in a bubble, but the dizziness was almost nonexistant. I really needed to run 11 miles, for my last long run before the half. I had planned to run outside, but there was a super creepy fog, with less than 100ft visibility. I was not about to risk possibility getting hit by a car, so I stuck to the treadmill at the gym. Since the treadmills shut off afte 1 hour, I split my 11 miles up into 4, 4, and 3 miles. I have to say, the time went by so quickly. I dont know what happened but it felt like the intervals (4/1) just flew by. I watched a zumba infomercial, fox news, and women's college gymnastics while running - they were all playing on the large tvs in the front of the cardio room - the individual treadmill tvs werent working. I finished in about 2:03:30ish. Best run I've had in a long time, and I'm feeling really good about the half marathon in two weeks! I actually just looked back and this 11 mile run's time was on target with my 11 miles from my first 2 half marathon training runs! I figured running would either break up some of the sinus congestion, or make it worse. It seemed to do both! Now I still have terrible sinus pressure in my head, but I also have a runny nose and I keep sneezing. The new running shoes were fantastic. I had been having a flare up peroneal tendonitis recently and this was the main reason I went out and bought new running sneakers - I figured that was a sign that the ones I had been wearing were starting to get worn out. I had absolutely no flare up of tendonitis on my run yesterday. My calves werent sore. My hips werent sore. My IT band didnt hurt. It was like a miracle running yesterday.

After my run I went grocery shopping, cooked some healthy eats for the week (spaghetti squash with a ground turkey meat sauce with onions and zucchini mixed in; and slow cooker jambalaya with chicken breast and smoked turkey sausage). I did some work on the bag that I have been making, but I didnt finish it because my head was killing me. And I only did one load of laundry. Not as productive as I had hoped to be, but when your head feels like it is in a bubble - you can only do so much! I did take a lavendar bubble bath with epsom salts to help with any inflammation. I had some horrible chaffing after my run, and I hoped the epsom salt would help with that a bit. I think it did. Or maybe it is in my head.

This morning I woke up and my head is still hurting a lot :( I have to see my therapist this morning, but I think afterwards I am going to call and try to get a dr appointment, or a referral to urgent care. The sinus pressure feels like it is so deep in my head - I might need an antibiotic since the head congestion medicine I have been taking over the counter does not seem to be helping!

I am back at work today anyway, though. Looks like it could be a very busy week, and my birthday is on Friday!

    Hope you are feeling better. May I recommend what doctors in Denver have had me and a number of other folks doing for sinus issues/infections - salt water rinse. You can get info by googling terms:
salt water rinse for sinuses and
saltwater rinse for sinuses
It is amazing how you improve after doing this - Really!

    Glad you got the ghost sneakers !! WOOOHOO to have COMFY Feet for runnin !!

I can't run, but I do need the most comfy sneakers,, I've had thus far 17 surg on feet. I need new sneakers,,,, my current ones are getting worn down. I will order them in March, prob get in April,,, I get them at Hangers,, where they make orthopedics shoes/sneakers, and artificial limbs. they do such a GR8 JOB for me,, and than I see them every 3 months (or less) for an adjustment. Esp after a surg, but can be for ANY rason. COMFY sneaks,, as you know,,, are soo IMPORTANT !! So always keep that up !!

Can NOT wait to see how you do on the marathon !! Remember to count ALL the time you can from that,, and the training ur doing,,, and ALL other exercise you do around it,,, also remember on SPARKS Browse they ALSO allow housework/heavy housework.

Hope you feel better soon. Those sinus headaches are a duzzy! I live in West Texas and this winter my allergies have hit the ceiling. You did super on the Treadmill that is so Pawesome Awesome. Keep up the great work on your exercise.

    Very interesting. There is a lot of that creepy crud floating around. It started for my family at the new year, and is just now abating.

You mentioned you were fairly close to Denver. What town do you call home? I was born and bred in Grand Junction and do I ever miss that place. But since none of our kids live there, we wont be living there, darn it.

Right now I am fighting a nasty bout of TERMINAL cancer so not sure if I can get back to the Junction any time soon, if at all.

Not trying to bum you out, just sharing some thoughts. I also found your picture fascinating. Are you a pilot?
