Last Night's Tribute Show

Sunday, February 09, 2014

Peter and I went to the Ed Sullivan Caravan of Stars last night. It featured a group of tribute artists doing songs made famous by Jerry Lee Lewis, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, Johnny Cash and the Everly Brothers, all introduced by a man who did a wonderful impersonation of Ed Sullivan's voice and mannerisms.

The show was sold out, and there was hardly anyone under 60, with many in their 70's. Surprisingly, the show went on for 3 hours, with a half-hour intermission.

It was very well done, but probably more Peter's taste then mine. Still, it was a night out. Sorry I can't be more enthusiastic.

  Hi Gail.........
That sounds like a show that my husband would have definitely enjoyed. Ken actually went to Buddy Holly's last concert in Green Bay. He was killed the next day on his way to Iowa.
Tribute shows are usually very good. I am glad to hear that your husband really enjoyed it..........maybe the next one will be groups that YOU love.

WoW... that must of been a blast... I'll bet they got everyone up on their feet singing and gyrating around. Nothing like a trip down memory lane to get those juices flowing. We just finished watching The Grammies 50th Year Tribute to the Beatles... fabulous show.
Sir Paul and Ringo finished the show off with several of their best hits. emoticon
