Day 869... Rest?

Sunday, February 09, 2014

I meant to take a rest day today, but... Cooper wanted to walk this morning, so that was over an hour and a half to start the day. I did 10 minutes of yoga, ten a 10 minute ST video, and was going to call it good, but my ball was out so I decided to use it to do crunches and pushups... and then I decided to see how long I could hold a wall sit x3. Of course then I had to walk Cooper again after lunch, and again after dinner. We didn't make it all the way to 10 miles, so I guess I can still call it a rest day, sort of. (Oh, and I got out for a 23 minute run, so maybe it wasn't a rest day after all.)

I need to work on this relaxation thing a bit more. I will always get SOME exercise since I have to walk the dog, but I could lay off on the ST and yoga, and shorten the dog walks. I will have to give that a try... some day. LOL!

Dad called today and offered to get tickets for a travelogue next Saturday on the train trip across Canada. I decided to go since My niece, Tigan, and I will be making that trip in June. Only thing is that means I can't do the group snow shoeing event that afternoon/evening. So, Instead I will go out by myself directly after lunch with my parents. I CAN be flexible, and do almost all the things I want to do. I just have to be willing to make adjustments to my expectations. Isn't that usually the case?

Moving is good, and gentle yoga can be delicious rest day movement.

I hear ya' on rest days. I walk the pups to meet (or exceed) my 10K steps every day. On my days off, that's 4 - 6 miles. When I mean to take a rest day, I feel guilty about not making my 10 K steps - and usually get out and walk them. When I didn't mean to take a rest day, but collapsed in a heap and slept all day, I feel really guilty! (If I'm sick, I don't feel as guilty).

Great job on your exercise today. It probably does feel like a rest day, as you enjoyed yourself so much. I could just kiss that little Cooper. he has become your exercise buddy and keeps you going whether you want to or not. That train trip across Canada is going to be so fabulous BUT there will be little to no exercise on those days. I took the train from Florida to Toronto many years ago. When you finally get off, you can't walk straight and need to regain your balance after rocking back and forth for days. LOL Have the time of your life and take lots of pictures.

All the exercise you do surely has an effect on your mood, so it's good. Exercise is better self-medication than alcohol or drugs, right?
