Considering An Acupressure Mat

Sunday, February 09, 2014

I saw it on a sparker's blog, but don't remember who or where. Then researched it and reviews are good. Has anyone here used an acupressure mat? I'm interested in it for the massage benefits, but I don't want it to be one of those things that are kinda gimmicky and wind up just taking up space.

Wishing all a wonderful day.

Trying to envision how acupressure mat would massage. Perhaps a foam roller would help?

Have not used one but would be open to it as I know that acupressure and acupuncture both can be helpful

I have one and I like it. It is basically what someone referred to as a modern day bed of nails. I've been known to fall asleep on it and it's also not unusual for 1, or more, of my cats to curl up on my stomach while I'm on it. You do want to be careful getting on or off. Those plastic 'spikes' are sharper than they look.

You got me interested. I did some reading. Let us know how it works if you decide to get one. (some of them looked slightly like a modified bed of nails!)

Well this is a new one for me. My luck is I'd lay down on it and my big boy cat Buddy-Buddie (weighs 20 lbs +) would want to lay on top of me. LOL

Go onto Youtube and check it out with other's who have used it.

I have an acupressure mat and I like it. I also have an infrared heating pad (full body) and find that I like it better.

The small acupressure mats work really well on headaches - just lie down for a while on one and it may help relieve some of the pressure if it's a tension headache. Migraines? Not so much.

I think it depends on what you want to use it for.

I tried the ones for your feet - they're like any other innersole - and they were comfortable but didn't have all the amazing benefits promised. (Shock, I know.) No experience with the mats, but you could try contacting Sue at www.purdyreiki.com . I know she distributes some sort of mat and has experience with all sorts of things like this.
