Argh! Early last week I commented that my ears were popping a bit. A couple days later I started sneezing. And then I was full-out sick. I'm on day four and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
How frustrating, though! It kind of irks me that per my employer, I have to get a flu shot each year. (If I don't get one, I am out of a job.) I see how well that worked out. :p
I'm upset because I was doing so well with my fitness and suddenly I could barely get out of bed. However, I'm trying to look at the positives:
1) I have managed to not take any cold/flu meds or even pain relievers like Advil. Don't get me wrong, this has been awful; but I've found hot lemon water helps me through the day, and at night I can manage without meds. This is a huge thing for me, as I can't remember the last time I was this sick and could go without. I take this as a sign my body is healthier overall and able to fight things off a bit better.
2) This has further cemented my commitment to healthy living. I am DONE getting knocked-down sick like this. What a waste of time and energy! But it's encouraging to think that my improved diet and increased exercise (and sleep) helped this bout of illness not be nearly as bad as it could have been. Just think, if I keep on this path, I bet the next time the flu comes around, I'll have an easier time of it.
3) I am so, so, SO excited to start exercising again! Weights, running, here I come!
