My winner!!!

Sunday, February 09, 2014

Yesterday, was the divisions wrestling tournament. It is a precursor to the sections tournament which will take place next weekend. You have to place within the top 4 in order to participate in the sections tournament.

The top 16 schools send their top four in each weight group. When the wrestling season started, my son would say, "I don't care about any of the tournaments, I just want to win divisions".

Well, he DID!! My son, who wrestles at 152 lbs., took FIRST PLACE at the tournament. I was so thrilled I was hugging people I didn't even know!! Not only will he go to the sections tournament but with a record of 24 wins and, here is the best part.....the high school will put up a plaque in the gym with his name on it. One of his best friends also won his weight class and will go up on the wall too.

I cannot explain the excitement and pride I am feeling. He went after something he has wanted for a long time and achieved his goal.

Here is the winning team. We are sending 8 boys to the sections tournament, two of them first place champs!

It just doesn't get much better than this!!

Here he is presented with the bracket board that shows he is the champ!

emoticon That is totally emoticon It is such a honor because he had to earn it on his own. In wrestling, it's all up to you. There is no way to ride on any one else's coattail. His hard work and dedication paid off! What a great joy for you!
