Week Six: Connection of food and environment.

Day 8 on my February goals. Goal two is to have a healthy breakfast. I ate my banana and peanut butter breakfast wrap. I did stretching throughout the day, and I read an inspirational quote today.

Today is my rest day. Unfortunately it was another migraine day. Besides that it was a good day.

I had an ah-ha moment. I read, ďWhat, when and how you eat is a pattern that is influenced by the external environment and lifestyle that you have created which is a direct result of the way you think and perceive your inner world.Ē

This is very true. In the past I never really too much notice with the food I was eating. I was trying to just make sure I had food to eat. I had to live on my own at a young age and didnít know how to cook much other than basics like mac and cheese, spaghetti, burritos, and some egg dishes. Even when I was married we didnít have a lot of money and I still didnít cook a lot. My ex-husband was a cook at the time and he did the cooking. I just made simple things for lunch. If it was sandwiches, fruits, and veggies. We also ate a lot of fast food. Going to college, working two jobs, and taking are of my son I just needed something cheap, quick, and easy. Even after the divorce it was like that. For many years it was like that. Really there are no excuses it was just choices I made and they werenít the best. It was all linked with how I felt, what was going on in our environment, and choices of food.

Iím not the same person as I was then. I see those times kind of dark in my life and I have been changing a lot in the last 5 years. Iíve accomplished a lot in five years. I have built my home. I have earned two college degrees. I have started working for the school district. I have gotten rid of many stresses in my life. I see many more changes Iím doing especially about my health. My healthier lifestyle is creating healthier habits and a new outlook for me. I see a lot of changed. I still have a lot of changes and that match with my environments. Iím not in the same place as I was 18 years ago, 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. Itís all up to me. I get to create it; I get to create my environment and my health choices. Itís so important to be aware of it and to reflect upon it.

Here is my updated challenge information for the week, for the fling into spring Challenge. Week one is done!!!
