I Just Don't Know...

Either my scales are broken or I'm gaining muscle. I have really been frustrated lately because the scales are not showing any weight loss but several people at the YMCA have said I look like I have lost weight. Maybe it is muscle since I have been taking Yoga and using my hand weights which I had not been doing for a while. I just wish the scales would show a loss. I'll just have to have patience and keep working hard.

    there are so many reasons why your scale seems like it isn't going down:
1. lack of bowl elimination
2. weighting after eating meals, need to be in the morning, before even drinking anything
3. If you weigh yourself after lifting, your muscles have expanded
4.eating processed food makes you retain water eight, and swell from salt.
5. if you are not journaling,
6.or eating healthier,
it's hard to keep track of what you actually eat

    You are probably right. I like feeling the strength I am getting from working with resistance bands and machines at the Y. I have lost an inch without losing a pound. Hang in there, for it will happen if you continue doing strength training and other heart healthy exercises. emoticon

  If you are doing all the right things good things are going on inside and muscles are being built and strengthened. I'd rather see the scales report a loss, but you will be surprised some day. That needle is going to move and shock you!! ; ) Keep up the good work. emoticon Eileen

    Check for your non-scale victories. Are your clothes looser. Take your measurements and see if that has changed. Are you weighing yourself everyday. If you are don't. Weighing everyday is a motivation killer. Only weigh once a week. Be sure to track every bite you take. It sounds to me like you may be, like you say, gaining muscle. Check those nsv's. The only victories you will see are not just on the scales. You will do this. Just step back and listen when people say you look like you have lost weight and don't depend just on the scales to tell you that. You are doing very well. Hang in there. God bless.
