Things are getting scarier

Friday, February 07, 2014

I had my follow up with my endocrinologist this week. I had found an old chest ct report from about five years ago that I was asking him about. It mentioned a pulmonary nodule in my lung that was thought to be a probable granuloma and it also mentioned ectasia of the ascending thoracic aorta that measured 4.2 cm at the time. He is ordering a new ct to make sure the nodule is actually a granuloma. He told me to let my cardiologist know about the ectasia of the aorta. These things were not followed up on by my primary after that scan. (Sound familiar - my thyroid was not followed up on either originally and that did not turn out well).

I left a message for the cardiologist this afternoon. His nurse promptly returned my call. She seemed VERY concerned and wanted a copy of the old report sent over and a copy of the new report sent over as soon as it was done. She said they would then determine if I needed to be seen in the vascular clinic or by a thoracic surgeon. She said she would then get me the first available appointment to be seen.

Oh my. I am feeling a little scared at this point.

gosh I am scared for you. I also just recently found out that I have a heart condition. I hit a stirring wheel in a car accident, and the bone fragments went into my front tub, 3 of them leaving me without 86% usage in that one from the three. Other than that I feel great. Boy all those big words, new illnesses I don't understand, it's mind blowing. But here is what I want you do . Stay calm, and if you need meditate, relax to music, do yoga, or read the bible for comfort. Please don't be like me, or others who bury ourselves emotionally before we hear the verdict. I used to always make my situations worse. And stress thinking or eating doesn't help. I know it is easier to say this, than do this. yet I am hoping that you just relax, realize than other than keeping calm, and eating healthy, you have no control over your circumstances. We all don't. I will pray for you, and hope you too will find comfort in the bible, or where you can. eva emoticon emoticon

Oy! What a trial. It's okay to be scared, but try to remember not to borrow trouble--until you have more info, worrying a lot will just drain you of energy you need for self-care.
