Hereís an update on my progress. About four weeks ago my wife, Becky, discovered that her blood pressure was running abnormally high, at least for her. Our parish nurse checked and the pressure was 140/110. The next Sunday it had gone down a bit but not substantially, the reading was still 140/100. Since both of us have been off the wagon so to speak with our nutrition and exercise we decided that we would climb back on, try to get the weight down and do more exercise. It was also decided that Becky should go to the doctor for a physical which she hasnít done for years. This prompted us to go on a modified South Beach diet moderated by some SparkPeople input.
We are now at the end of our two week phase with nothing white; no bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes. Also no fruit and an attempt to avoid anything with added sugar. Additionally, I have been tracking my nutrition on SparkPeople which gives us both an idea of what we are consuming as far as calories, carbohydrates, fat, protean, sodium etc. We have noticed some weight loss, not dramatic, about 5 or 6 for her and about 6 or 7 for me. As yet we have not introduced any exercise beyond what we get naturally but starting Monday we will begin.
When I was going heavy on SP several months ago I had a great routine of cardio and weight training three days a week. Part of the cardio routine was to work out with one of the SparkPeople 10 Minute videoís. Next I had several core building and strength building floor exercises I did. I never felt better in my life. So I intend to get started on that again. Iíll have to drag Becky screaming and yelling with me. But I intend to have a long life with her and I am not going to let a sedentary life destroy that goal.
So there it is. More about Bill and Becky than you really needed to know but I just wanted to get it out there. Itís in print and it is published on the Internet so it must be true.
