Reminder - I am doing this because of health concerns as well. I have type II diabetes and my lifestyle is a contributing factor. For the first year I did lose a bit of weight and changed my eating habits and I controlled it myself. But then, I reverted back to old habits and now I am taking metformin! I am now on this healthy journey ( not a diet) because it will assist with controlling my diabetes.
Sometimes, I forget I have it though. I do have to have blood work within the next few weeks to see how my blood sugars are doing. If my blood sugar is not controlled, there are very serious cosequences. Cell damage, organ damage, heart problems, vision problems, amputation of limbs. My doctor explained that if my sugars are high and remain high the sugar kinda hangs out in my blood and it irritates the cells and causes damage and then damage to my organs. I imagine the sugar bits to have pointy edges that will scrape my cells and organs as they travel around! As this continues to happen the damage gets bigger and bigger. I cannot let my sugars remain high! Exercise and eating well play a huge roll in maintaining good sugar levels.
What better motivation do I need to eat well and exercise???? If I eat well and exercise I will have a better chance of not going blind or having my toes/foot or leg amputated!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For today, I will choose well to control my blood sugar!!!
